Erasmus+ testimonial: Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the field of Sport (CBS)

"The Erasmus+ project has brought significant benefits to KFV Prishtina and the broader sports community in Kosovo. By facilitating international exchanges and collaborative experiences, the program has elevated our training methods, broadened perspectives, and introduced new best practices within our institution. Our participation has created pathways for our players and staff to access international expertise, enrich their knowledge, and foster a spirit of inclusivity and solidarity. Moreover, the project has greatly expanded our network across Europe, which is invaluable for creating sustainable growth and long-term partnerships in sports development for Kosovo.

Erasmus+ has played a transformative role in advancing gender equality within Kosovo’s sports community. Through projects like ours at KFV Prishtina, girls and young women have been given unique opportunities to engage in sports at a competitive level and represent their communities on international stages. For example, as part of the Erasmus project, our U13 girls’ team traveled to Vienna for the Vienna Girls Football Festival, where they had the chance to play in mixed teams and socialize with peers from Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, and Vienna. This experience not only strengthened their confidence but also underscored the importance of gender equality and inclusivity in sports, both for participants and for their communities back home.

The main impact of our participation in the Erasmus+ program has been the cultural exchange and personal growth it has fostered among our young athletes. Being exposed to diverse environments and learning from peers across Europe has enriched their social and cultural understanding, encouraging them to become open-minded, resilient, and collaborative individuals. Erasmus+ has not only helped our participants to develop their athletic skills but also their intercultural competence, which will serve them well in any endeavor. These opportunities provide lasting inspiration and open doors to future educational and athletic pursuits, fostering a generation ready to engage meaningfully on an international scale.

Our Erasmus+ project has been instrumental in enhancing a range of transversal skills among participants, particularly in communication and digital competency. During the program, players and staff have developed effective communication techniques to navigate language and cultural differences, and many players had the opportunity to practice English in an international setting, which is crucial for future development. Additionally, participants improved their digital skills by engaging in online collaborations and virtual meetings, enabling them to adapt to an increasingly digital world. These enhanced skills benefit the players not only in sports but also in education and future employment opportunities.

One of the key success stories from our Erasmus+ experience is the participation of our U13 girls’ team in the Vienna Girls Football Festival. This was an extraordinary opportunity for our young players, allowing them to train, compete, and socialize in mixed teams alongside girls from Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, and Vienna. The festival provided our players with their first international exposure, which inspired them to see sports as a unifying platform beyond cultural and national boundaries. For many of these girls, this was a transformative experience that sparked their ambition and confidence, and it has also influenced their peers, reinforcing the value of gender equality and collaboration in sports. This experience has become a beacon for our community, showcasing the possibilities and achievements that Erasmus+ can bring to young people in Kosovo."
